New Projects

Mata Anandamayi Tripura Vidypeeth has continued to grow through the years, by Ma’s grace and generous inspired help, both private and through selfless organizations such as Dana Mudra (www.danamudra.org) of Austria, run by Gerhard Kogoj and Margot Ruis, and Shantipuri Friends Foundation (www.shantipurifriends.org), run by Sundaram and Shivani LaPierre and Yogeshwar Lakin of Encinitas, California, and ASSEO (Aide à la Scolarisation et à la Santé des Enfants de Omkareshwar) (www.schoolomkar.org) run by Yves Bourgeon of France.

We have constructed many new classrooms to house the increased enrollment and higher grades.

The new Middle School for the higher grades with three classrooms, science lab and open meeting hall.

The new classrooms above the original Primary School.

The new woodworking shop where students are training to eventually build harmoniums, under the guidance of Thomas from Germany.

The new walkway leading to the Middle School.

A new youth group has been established in Omkareshwar dedicated to environmental consciousness and keeping the area of Omkareshwar clean.

They have had several full-scale cleanup projects in the area, several drives to instill the idea of a clean environment in the local villager’s minds.

They have planted trees and installed waste receptacles all around the island of Omkareshwar.

The local youth take part in these projects with great enthusiasm.

The ashram has founded a new and very important group in the village for the empowerment of women. This group, called Matri Shakti (The Power of Divine Mother) meets monthly. The ladies discuss their problems and ideas, sing bhajans and the monks of the ashram give a talk and answer questions.

In addition to the monthly meeting, there are daily training classes at the ashram after school hours for the ladies to learn computer, handicrafts and various vocational skills for the betterment of their lives.
